221 is set in a tastefully refurbished historic home nestled in the trees on South Oak St, just steps from the Gondola. For years, 221 South Oak has been renowned for its intimate atmosphere, incredible food, extensive wine list, friendly service and uncompromising quality. Chef/Owner Eliza serves cuisine classified as Modern Bistro with an eclectic blend of flavors and styles. Full Vegetarian Menu is available.
We also offer catering services in the privacy of your home. Wine and Delectable Pairing Classes are available weekly.

Wine Pairing and Tasting Menu

Ever wondered how much a dash, drizzle or pinch may be and how much is too much? Explore these questions and other culinary quandaries with Chef Eliza on Thursdays, from 11:00 to 2:30. Chef Eliza will demonstrate 12 dishes and Sommelier Sophie will pour 10 wines, harmonizing or juxtaposing the cuisine. Recipes feature summer flavors and lesser known ingredients. Learn from Sophie the art of wine pairing and dive into the regions and varietals of wine. Take with you all of the recipes, a full tummy and a bevy of new friends. Feel free to request a date for a class that fits your schedule. Most of our classes are held on Thursdays but we are open to private classes any day of the week.

I love this restaurant. Every time the menu surprises and delights me. Fresh. Creative. Generous portions. The cocktails, too, are inventive and fun. Always high-quality service. I especially love that there is a full vegetarian menu for me in addition to the more traditional menu for my husband and daughter. Everyone is delighted. I am hard pressed to not get the duo of ravioli in wild mushroom cream sauce ... every time it is different flavors, every time it is wonderful. But this time I tried the tofu kabob lettuce wraps. Heaven! I feel so lucky every time we go to 221. I would give seven stars if I could.

This was our first time to 221 South Oak. We are from Boston and have eaten at many fantastic restaurants in the major east coast cities. 221 South Oak is as good, if not better, than most of them. The room was quite cosy and had the look and feel of being in our hosts home. The menu ingredients were locally sourced, remarkably fresh, and combined in ways that were both inventive and delicious. Every dish we had was remarkable - and left us impressed with both the presentation and flavor profiles. The service was equally excellent. Kelsey was attentive, knowledgeable, gave great recommendations, and was our guide thru a remarkable evening. This was one of our best dining experiences in recent memory. We were impressed!

Great experience. Our meals were delicious and service was excellent. This was our fourth visit to South Oak and we will be back.

One of the best restaurants in all of Telluride. We’ve been going for 20 years and it never disappoints. Also, the bees-knees and the side car cocktails are perfection.

Have know for 20+ years that Chef Eliza is one of the best in Telluride, and tbh the nation. But we were seriously impressed with the menu and food at 221 on our last visit! Lots of new dishes and flavors that hit wonderful notes. The restaurant is clearly firing on all cylinders right now and the dishes (vegetarian and omnivore) were all outstanding and deliciously interesting. With a number of new great restaurants in town, 221 may be my new fav (again;) —excited to go back soon!
