Abel Brown is a southern kitchen & oyster bar nestled in Surrey Center in Augusta, Ga. The name, much like our menu, is a nod to and celebration of our blended cultural roots. Authentic, yet refined, our ingredient-driven dishes are prepared and served with thought and respect. We pair clean and modern Southern cuisine with the charm & tradition reserved for high company.

We were going out for my birthday. We started with oyster Rockefeller which was excellent, then I had the beet salad which was good and my wife had she crab soup that she said was very good. For our main course I had the pork chop which was excellent and my wife had the salmon which she liked very much. To finish things off we shared a chocolate bread pudding which was fantastic. The service was good and they were very busy but nothing really took too long to prepare. It was noisy but no so much that it was troublesome. Of course when you dine in nice places you are going to pay so not the kind of place we would eat at once a week or anything. Occasionally treat yourself to Abel Browns you can’t go wrong.

I looked forward to dining here and I really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, my dining experience was a mixed bag. While the service and one of the dishes were good, the other items were mediocre.

Our server Michael Webster was AMAZING. He was super professional, knew his stuff in terms of the menu, providing recommendations, and so friendly. The food presentation was great. I will recommend this restaurant to many of my guests attending this conference. I would come back to Abel Brown a thousand times.
