At the stylish Allegro, chef Enzo Febbraro brings a lively new approach to classic Italian-American cooking, merging old world tradition and new world innovation to perfect effect. Located at the cornerstone of Wynn's Theatre Row, this bustling modern trattoria features a wood oven hearth, convivial bar and lounge and ideal proximity for dining before or after the show. The Naples born chef has crafted an ingredient driven menu that salutes Italian cooking in a very approachable way, focusing on dishes with flavor and tradition, as well as timeless favorites. The bill of fare offers the comfort and familiarity of such dishes as veal chop Parmigiano, osso buco d'Agnello, chicken Francaise and baked lasagna Napoletana. By turns elegant yet rustic, Allegro provides an exuberant chef with a theatrical stage from which to cook up his own delicious Italian aria.

                                                                    The service here is normally fantastic and so is the food but this evening it was definitely sub par. We ordered the cheese and prosciutto platter and the prosciutto came out cut thick like a honey baked ham. Everyone knows that those types of meats need to be cut super thin, as they normally are at this restaurant as well. But today it wasn’t. It took quite awhile for the server to come back to check on us and by then we had eaten the cheese and tomatoes thinking they’d cut new prosciutto and bring it to the table. She took the platter to the chef and the chef basically said that’s how it is. She offered to take it off our bill but we had already eaten pieces of it. The manager then came and said she would charge us for half. Instead of making it right- they charged us for half of an appetizer - laughable as we frequent this restaurant every single time we are in Las Vegas which is 4-5 times a year. Also, we are guests of the hotel every time as well.

                                                                    Really good food here without the stiff robotic typical Vegas “fine dining staff.” If you’ve been visiting Vegas a while you know service isn’t what people envision of Vegas of the 90’s; the unfortunate new normal. But Allegro is a solid choice amongst a sea of namesake high-end venues. Despite the notes on the reservation stating it was my birthday my server never mentioned it. I was dressed up and everything. Didn’t ask if I was celebrating or what brought me in. Again, I’m not a fan of hyper-active servers but no introduction other than “Hi I’m your server and we have some specials” was not his best in my opinion. I had to remind the server assistant that it was a birthday and he then brought a treat. I remembered the server from my last visit, but he didn’t remember me—Even in the same section. Other than that service was acceptable and food was quite fresh and fairly flavorful. Also, the drink from the bartender that night was on point. Many Vegas bartenders don’t know how to properly make espresso martinis but mine was perfect. The manager dresses as if she is going to a front row Versace fashion show (I think she is Italian) and runs her restaurant quite well. The number of Maitre’Ds however, seemed excessive for the evening: a lady and gent periodically wondering around aimlessly, not seating anyone. Hostesses are usually pleasant. My hope is that they would read the reservation notes next time, because if not what’s the point of a reservation.

                                                                    The food and the service were absolutely wonderful. Here's the thing - it was Valentine's Day evening, in Las Vegas - we were not expecting a quiet dinner with just the two of us, and our expectations were met. We had an absolutely brilliant time - the staff was wonderful, the food was out of this world. The price was a little steep (read $35.00 for glass of wine!) but like I said, it was Valentine's Day....
