Having opened its doors in 2010, Angels with Bagpipes quickly established itself as one of the finest restaurants to have graced Edinburgh’s most iconic and historic street, The Royal Mile. With upmost pride in sourcing fresh Scottish ingredients.
Mixing an atmospheric Old Town setting with chic, contemporary looks, the restaurant reflects many of the city’s most defining features. With a humble facade nestled in the beautiful 17th century building, rich tones of bronze and marble cascade throughout the two tiers of Angels with Bagpipes.

                                              Eating at 16.30 we knew it wouldn’t be busy but there were a few people dining. The small plates we chose were lovely and wine complimented the food well. Why places insist on a 12.5% service charge is beyond me. Due to an issue with one of the courses I asked for this charge to be removed which was done immediately. Would definitely go again in the hope it doesn’t become a statistic of a closure as far to many eateries in the capital do.

                                              Interior a bit tired. Not much atmosphere. Downstairs was a bit grimy. Food was ok, could have used some more vegetables. Mains better than desert. Haggis Bon bons were the best!

                                              I don’t think I’ve ever experienced dishes where the chef had used so much skill and creativity to combine flavors that were completely unexpected yet amazingly good. This was a memorable flavor experience. I also very much appreciated our server’s attention to meeting my dietary restrictions, even when that meant having to concoct a new sugar-less drink for me (which was delicious). Really enjoyed everything about the evening.
