Aquitaine has relocated to 216 Church Street at the corner of Church and Market. We moved from 175 Sutter last year. We cannot wait to see you in our new location!

Enjoy the wines and cuisine of southwest France in an exquisitely comfortable setting. This cozy restaurant/wine bar was inspired by the cuisine and wines of Gascony. Enjoy our favorite recipes from southwest France, bar bites before an evening out or our fabulous French fare for a hearty lunch or dinner. Michael Bauer of The San Francisco Chronicle says Aquitaine offers “The Best Mussels in the Bay Area” and calls it one of “Best Places to Dine”. Aquitaine also offers a large retail selection of wines at 30% off the list price that represent the grapes of southwest France & from countries like Argentina, Chile and the United States. We tried this restaurant for a change from the Hayes Valley regulars before SF Symphony and were pleased. Our appetizer (deviled eggs) and dinners duck confit and coq au vin, with a side of pom frites, satisfied and the French Pinot Noir was a welcome Continental inspiration compared to our usual Central or Northern CA favorites! All enjoyable!

Quite overwhelmed / busy on valentines day They forgot to bring us our food, so we got it a while after we ordered And they almost charged us for something they didn't serve Understandable as it was busy, and they were apologetic. The food was good, but the steak was quite chewy

This is one of San Francisco's gems. Andrew is the owner and creates a truly simple and delicious French menu. Three of us went for the Sunday Chicken roast. The chicken was cooked to perfection and SOOOOOO much tastier than that overpriced thing at Zuni. The starter salad was simple, but fresh. The potatoes were a highlight (we even ordered a second round). They are like mini potato latkes! For dessert we indulged in the lemon tart that was heaven with the vanilla ice cream and blueberry compote. Highly recommend!

Great food, great ambience. Service could’ve been more attentive given that we were the only people in the restaurant for the most part.

Love this location - and we had great service and delicious food. Highly advise you take public transportation (tons of convenient options) as parking can be tight around there.

Our second time here, this time with another couple. The Ginger soup and beet salad were delicious. And the Coq au Vin was amazing paired with an excellent Napa Can Franc. Not cheap, but well worth it.
