At Barbareño we seek to help further shape and define Central Coast cuisine. We take our inspiration from traditions and specialties of our area, delicacies unique to our region, and the many outstanding purveyors with whom we are so fortunate to work. In all of our efforts, we hope to capture the essence of a particular place or local flavor, embracing the nuances that make our food and drink unique to our home.

                                              Our party of 5, fully explored the variety of dishes offered. Everything was appealing and flavorful. No disappointments. Service was very thoughtful and special kudos to Cole.

                                              A true slice of Santa Barbara culture accompanied by delicious food. We had non alcoholic cocktails that were wonderful. I love being served all the service staff who talk enthusiastically about each plate/platter/starter. We are coming back to try their burgers next time-we saw several carried by and they looked amazing. We usually try several starters and a platter a few times a year and want to try to come more often for a more casual experience that is less expensive. My favs: blackbird brownie, persimmon salad, New York strip and mussels (holy smokes! the dipping bread is outrageous). I love this restaurant.

                                              One of the very best restaurants in Santa Barbara. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and professional. It’s easy to label the food as Californian or New/Contemporary American, yet there is a uniquely local vibe that permeates the entire menu. Each dish showcases its primary ingredients with often interesting and playful flavors and textures. Standouts from the current menu (December 2024) include the acorn papardelle, crispy pork belly with bbq beignets. The persimmon salad with Urfa vinegraitte perfectly balances out the richer dishes. Don’t skip the bread, which is made with an 11 year-old starter and is served warm. For dessert, the Baked California is never to be missed and should probably be trademarked. The Chamango, with its spot-on blend of Tajín, mango and chamoy is a celebration to and a tribute of the humble Mexican fruit stand that I really hope stays on the menu.

                                              Really well prepared food. The Hope Ranch Mussels were outstanding as was the fish of the day. Perfectly cooked is a delicious sauce. Really enjoyed the sunchokes but a bit too oily and too much of whatever dressing they used. Overall, great dinner. Also wines by the glass are very nice quality. Barabareno is our monthly rotation!

                                              The highlight of our meal was the lamb Al pastor with fermented corn flatbread. Flavors on point. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable in food and beverage. Very attentive to our table. Excellent atmosphere! Will be back!
