Located in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, Bateau is a beef-centric, French inspired restaurant with fresh, local ingredients and bold flavors. Bateau has an extensive wine selection including local and imported wines.

This season, we're thrilled to highlight all of the things we love most about Bateau: whole animal butchery, fermentation, foraged & seasonal ingredients, thoughtful service, and the elements of time that allow us to explore an abundance of flavors in our steaks and beyond. You'll have the chance to experience an exquisite Chef's Tasting Menu, a la carte favorites, and an array of steaks on your next visit.

    We are thrilled to bring our Beef and Burgundy event again. This has been such a special and intimate dinner and we can't wait to share it with you! We welcome you to come join us for an evening celebrating the wine and culinary traditions of Burgundy. Chef Taylor Thornhill and team will be preparing a feast featuring classic Burgundian ingredients from leeks, to dijon, oeufs, the beloved escargot, oxtail, braises, fromage, and poached pears. To accompany, Jen O'Neil will be selecting wine pairings from sparkling, to white, and red, all thoughtfully paired. It's sure to be another special evening that we can't wait to spend with you! Please do let us know if you have any dietary restrictions to accommodate.

    For all large parties we offer a Prix Fixe menu. We serve these meals family style, which means that you share generous portions of a selection of starters, steak with sides, and dessert. It’s a beautiful way to dine, provides variety, and makes things feasible for our small kitchen. Our food is seasonally driven by ingredients from the Pacific Northwest, many of them foraged by our very own kitchen staff, and fiercely focused on sustainability and little to no waste. Our beef is 100% from the Pacific Northwest, grass-fed and grass finished, and dry aged a minimum of 21 days in house. We are happy to accommodate any special dietary needs and appreciate any advanced information you may have regarding restrictions.

                                                              I thought the service was great. Staff was very attentive and extremely friendly. First time going there and got the 5-course meal. Didn’t know what to expect but the sandwich was the best part of the meal. Some pieces of the chefs selection of steak were pretty raw which was disappointing because the glaze was very good. Not sure if I’d get the 5-course meal again as some of the menu items looked more enjoyable.

                                                              We went for a birthday celebration. It was an amazing experience. The food was delicious, the service was great. It was such a cool experience to see them cross off the meat selection they have the chalkboard.

                                                              Best steak I’ve had in years. Wonderful service and attention to detail. The wine by the glass list is wanting and not a fan of the croquettes. But you come for the steak and they don’t disappoint

                                                              I had high hopes for Bateau, but didn’t love it. We enjoyed the sides we ordered more than the actual steak. The service was great and very helpful staff.

                                                              Second time dining at Bateau and it wasn’t what i remember it being. It was nice. Food was good but the prices were very very high for what we got and the service was just meh this time. Felt kind of forgotten about. Not sure I’ll be back for a 3rd visit.

                                                              The service exceeded expectations! For a busy holiday we were surprised how much attention we received without feeling rushed. All food and drink recommendations were great! One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.

                                                              Wonderful staff and service. Food is excellent. Well worth the price for special occasions. Only concern is the recently implemented 22% service charge. It’s not clear if this benefits the staff but they’ve also added in a like that gratuity is not expected. Would like to see an assurance that this fee goes to taking care of staff with higher wages, good benefits, etc.
