We are proud to offer 75 kinds of different pasta recipe, fresh and hand-crafted 12 hours a day.
"Bencotto" means cooked well: this is what authentic Italian food is about.
It tastes as it should and would in Italy.
Bencotto offers two different eating environments: guests can either enjoy their meal at our “kitchen-esque” bar downstairs, or they can relax in the intimate low-ceiling dining area upstairs. The décor creates a clean and sophisticated atmosphere, where old-world charm and warmth blend with contemporary appeal.

First visit to this place and was very satisfied with my experience. Got a table for one, outside next to walkway. Was a Friday evening around 5:30 and during my ~1.5 hours there the ambiance was very pleasant - not loud. Could have been different indoors so not too sure there. I had the fried squid for appetizers and then the crab tortellini which both, were very delicious. Ended with the tiramisu - amazing. My server, Dave was very professional as well as the other assistants who brought food, water, and cleared my table. Wonderful place to eat and will be eating there again during my next stay.

We had a reservation, but after looking at the tiny 2 person table we decided to sit at the bar. (Excellent choice) Sergio, our bartender was spot on throughout the meal starting with perfectly mixed mocktails. The appetizer, PANZEROTTI AI FUNGHI a lightly fiied mini calzone was a prefect surprise to two midwesterners. Both of our pasta dishes were wonderful. I combined a perfect pasta with a perfect sauce. My wife had a ravioli filled with truffle and mushroom cream sauce. We went to San Diego, from Indy, only to try Bencotto (also to see the sun). My two favorite Italian Restaurants are Bartolotta (Milwaukee) and Vivace (Tucson). Bencotto doesn't have the high end ambiance or the view (or the price), but the food and experience is the same. On our next trip to SD will we visit Monello their sister restaurant.

Scott waited on us and was very prompt and polite. He was able to direct me to the ossobuco when I was torn between that and the Lamb Shank. The ossobuco was one of the best I’d ever had, and had not one but 3 pieces of bone with bone marrow in it (my favorite part). The food was really delicious. I was only a little disappointed when the squash flowers (which we had ordered before) came and it was only 4 pieces. The previous time we ordered it there were at least 8 pieces. However, overall it was a great meal! Thanks!!

Though I made an Open Table reservation, apparently it was not recorded when I arrived. Well after I was seated I received several inquiries by text about asking if I was on my way and when would I arrive. Strike One. I had been seated next to a very noisy family in the far back of the restaurant. Apparently my suit was not acceptable attire to be seated in a quiet and cushioned seat as I had requested (despite there being plenty of other tables available). Strike Two. The wine I ordered by the glass was not available. A different, inferior wine, was substituted. Strike Three. All of that being said, the food that I ordered was ample and quite delicious. I recommend the gluten free gnochi. But, with all the noise and unfair seating, I would get it to go. I would rather eat in my car than be treated disrespectfully.

Very disappointing overall. Service was good. Ambiance was fine but not warm or inviting. Food was entirely tasteless. None of the appetizers or mains were good. Would not recommend.

very nice! overall 5 stars bc there’s nothing bad, but it’s not like uniquely special. the food was great and my family and i have no complaints!

Quite delicious food but a little underwhelming, and at the same time they forgot some things that we ordered but that happens specially on holidays.
