we ate here prior to a Kennedy Center concert and it could not have been better. fast but courteous service and great food!

Some slices of pan con tomate had bad tomato. And one cannot buy pan con tomate by itself - only with ham. This is wrong. The espinacas a la catalana had boiled spinach rather than fried. It is not how we eat them in Catalonia. The tortilla de patatas was so, so. Not great. The best were las croquetas de pollo y the Ripoja Cune wine. The worst was the decaf expresso, which I couldn't even drink - it was so bad.

We had made our reservations and when we arrived the hostess just sent us to the back. We had requested one of the tables by the front window ( it was open) when we were finally seated it was in the middle of everything. The food and wait staff were outstanding. Had the Tuna, steak, cheese and honey,octopus and calamari. Everything was delicious.

We did not end up ordering because the restaurant had an overwhelming smell of mothballs that made me sick. We had one glass of wine and left.

Personal choice for some of the food items is reason for 3 stars on food. Examples: Chicken croquets were mostly gravy w/ a small chunk of chicken; Dates wrapped in bacon were fried and bacon was fairly fatty.
