"Chic, sexy and glamorous", are words that have been used to describe the decor of this downtown Beaufort hotspot. If you are looking for where the locals eat, Breakwater is it. The atmosphere is upscale casual, the staff is friendly, welcoming and attentive.

Chef Lang and Chef Shaw's version of 'New Southern Cuisine' contains the past, present, and future all at once. Younger, lighter, and fresher than traditional Southern 'Old School' deep-fried fare while acknowledging culinary influences from the world beyond.     Our food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. Our server Lisa treated us like family, and Juliette is always attentive, too. It was lovely to not feel rushed at all. We were glad we chose to dine here tonight.

    Somewhat disappointed. Service was slow & it wasn’t crowded. The drinks, though tasty seemed watered down but the Malbec was good. The fried green tomato app was excellent as was the grilled Caesar salad….but a tad overdressed. Fried shrimp were delicious, flavorful with a light dusted coating. The broiled shrimp were meh…not well seasoned & not as good as what you can get at Costco— the accompanying noodles with lemon caper butter sauce was also lacking so as to almost be flavorless. The ahi tuna were ok…but plain…no pop of seasoning, a missed opportunity. It was all a bit underwhelming given the high ratings. The potential is there, with some easy adjustments, maybe it was just an off night. (Breakfast over at Red Rooster Cafe was outstanding!)

    The food was amazing! Our waitress was a lot of fun and made great suggestions. We were there for a birthday and they didn’t disappoint with the dessert selection!

    Server was excellent. Food was not. Flour lumps in crab soup, stuffed mushrooms were very small and filling was cream cheese which was odd and didn’t taste good, beef and seafood entrees were good but sides were not with lumpy, cold mashed potatoes, goopy cheese melted on top of steak and risotto not creamy. Tiramisu was delicious. Got home and took an Alka-Seltzer.

    We had a great dinner experience at Breakwater. Fried oyster appetizer was excellent. Service was very good and noise level was low so we could have a conversation. We had lamb meatloaf, pimento bacon burger and shrimp pasta. All our entrees were delicious, hot and just enough to fill us up. Highly recommend Breakwater we loved that they offered some unique menu items and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.
