Fantastic barman - friendly and making interesting non-alcoholic options. Fries were superb. Told we would have to wait 30+ mins for steaks, which seemed very strange given restaurant was less than half full. Then they appeared in under ten minutes - 2 different cuts but a consistent theme; only tasting of cremation. Not overcooked inside, just wrecked on the outside. Peppercorn sauce had never seen a peppercorn in its life, was split and watery. Found manager, he offered to remake the dishes. They came out - better, but still just tasting of bitter char rather than delicious maillard goodness. Sauce wasn’t split but was still watery, maybe a pre-made thing rather than freshly done in the kitchen. Staff very friendly and polite but just not very competent or well trained. When the bill came, there was a 10% discount for complaint, which was overcome by the 13.5% “discretionary” charge. The steaks were badly butchered, covered in silver-skin, and cooked badly. And for £5 more per steak than the best we’ve ever had at Fallow in London. Oh, and the grease stain on my wife’s trousers from when the waiter dropped fries on her is bound to come out… eventually! Obviously just there to scam tourists with a “premium” pretence. Give it a miss.
