Capture a magical moment of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s past as you dine in one of its most historic buildings. The four-diamond Cannery Restaurant of today is reminiscent of its former life as a canning factory in the 1800s, where Niagara peaches and tomatoes were canned until 1957. Chef Mark Longster continues to serve up the best of the region in his menus which feature the freshest local produce and fine wines.                                                                                                       We've attended Sunday brunch before and the food was outstanding. Today, it was only okay, and that was disappointing. We had people from out of province visit with us and we took them there today. I had hyped up the food, only to have an okay experience. The desserts are clearly brought in and not unique or even tasty. Overly sweet, and one of the Yule logs was even dry. The carrot cake didn't even have the proper icing on it. The hot buffet was hit and miss, with half the dishes being fantastic and the other half just okay. The carving station had bacon wrapped turkey, which sounded delicious, only to be disappointing. The egg station was great. The cheese selection was also hit and miss. The mussels were great, but no shrimp put out. Service and ambience was great. We will be back, as we've had really great experiences previously, and see if this was just a fluke. It's just disappointing it wasn't the hype I made it to be for our visitors.

                                                                                                      This was the best restaurant experience that we have had in a long time. The food was particularly good. Not inexpensive, but still very good value. Very enjoyable.

                                                                                                      We ordered the wedge and Caesar salads plus the tuna poke appetizers. All were excellent. We ordered various beef dishes from the a la cart menu (prime rib, beef tenderloin and ribeye). All were expertly prepared and presented. The toppings tray for the baked potato is a very nice touch. Thumbs up as well for the desserts. The Brookie was a table favorite and, since a member of our party has a nut allergy, we were happy to learn it was nut-free. Would heartily recommend for a holiday meal or any special occasion.

                                                                                                      Came for Christmas Brunch. A lovely setup, but quite a long line to get in. That can’t really be helped though, since you’re being seated at either 11:00am or 1:30pm. We had opted for the latter. Service was very good. We were served coffee immediately, though our bottle of wine took a while to arrive. It was very busy though, so no big deal on that either. It happens and our server was friendly and hospitable. Unfortunately the food was a bit of an issue. Pastries, salads, cold seafood and charcuterie were wonderful. Eggs Benedict also very good, cooked perfectly and warm. Lovely hollandaise. Very good prime rib, done a perfect medium rare. Great salmon also. Partner tried the omelette station, which was quite watery on the plate. Again, it happens. No big deal. Turkey very dry, stuffing subpar, potatoes/cranberry/carrot puree just ok. Lamb the same. Passed on the pancakes/waffles/toast/yogurt so can’t say anything there. Dessert the biggest letdown here. Beautiful carrot cake and Nutella profiteroles. Cupcakes with store bought frosting, Yule log extremely sweet and again tasted very store bought. Cheesecake grainy. Cookies, etc. were fine, but they’re cookies and hard to screw up. Overall this gets a 7.5/10 for me. Nice to try, but I wouldn’t go for brunch again. Would do Christmas dinner instead. Service really saved the day: very nice people. Also noted the great selection of gluten free and labelled items, though I have no allergies myself.
