Food: Nothing was bad and somethings were very good.
1. Shrimp cocktail didn't come with traditional shrimp cocktail sauce, so still craving it. However, the shrimp were good and so we're the alternative sauces.
2. Ceaser salad was fine, not my favourite but not bad.
3. Charcuterie board could have used cheese, they have a separate cheese board but who wants two boards.
4. BBQ 1/2 Chicken was surprisingly good, just a tad dry.
Service and atmosphere: Not good, this is a fail that we didn't expect.
I made a reservation for 2 in OpenTable and indicated it was for our 5 year anniversary. I selected a normal table as opposed to bar or high table.
We were greeted by the host with: "do you want some food?" I replied with we have a reservation for Last name. She asked if we wanted a bar or high table. I already indicated this in my reservation but okay, I replied a regular table. She took us to a table at the bar, when the main restaurant was almost empty. Our server was ok but not super friendly or professional. No one asked us if we were there for a special occasion or mentioned what I put in the notes.
If we were in Estes and just needed a decent meal, this would have been fine. Not bad for a tourist trap. However, I did regret picking it for a special occasion. Very sad, as the Stanley is such a wonderful property with so much potential and has sentimental value to us. I wish they would pivot from giving horror tours to tourists to a 5 star historic hotel they were meant to be, you know like in Dumb and Dumber, as opposed to acting Dumb and Dumber. Sorry, couldn't resist.
