Chapter One is an award-winning Modern European restaurant with 3 AA Rosettes in Orpington, Kent. Following a major refurbishment in early 2019, Chapter One has relaunched with a more modern approach, tempting guests with greater variety and quality.

Under the direction of acclaimed chef Andrew McLeish, modern European cooking is available in two formats. In the Restaurant, sophisticated seasonal dishes are served in a refined setting with a weekly changing 3-course Lunch Menu du Jour, a seasonally-inspired 7-course Tasting Menu and an a la carte option. In the more informal Brasserie, a selection of favourites are cooked to perfection with the finest ingredients. The drinks offering is as exciting with an AA Notable Wine List, premium spirits, and cocktails. There is also a private dining room for corporate and private occasions.

Not been for a while, and booked the brasserie. The staff from the moment I walked in, I could not fault - they were friendly and efficient. Starters, there was a good choice, well presented & tasty. Mains - ribeye, was well cooked. My wife had the sea bass, which was ok, but a little underwhelming. Desserts - sticky toffee pudding lived up to its name ! Again the lady waitress was excellent, friendly, chatty, and knowledgeable. I will definitely go back.

Just love Chapter One. It is my go to for special occasions. There have been some changes since my last visit and the menu was just great. A wonderful lobster ravioli ( £5 supplement) starter, and then venison. Gorgeous. My husbands' main course was partridge. Again wonderful. Just nice to have some different choices. Our waiter was a gem. It makes such a difference.

Service was not up to the normal high standard. No chocolates at the end of the meal and not as attentive. Back next Sunday, hopefully back to normal standard

Lovely meal but our oysters had too much chilli. Very expensive but worth it for a special occasion. The desserts are very disappointing.

It's been many years since we last went to Chapter 1, It was really wonderful and we didn't want the meal to end it was that delicious!!. and the service outstanding , very attentive and professional Can't wait to return very soon. Tracy and Steve Dent

Enjoyed the meal and it was a special occasion for my wife’s birthday On arrival I was asked whose birthday it was explained and was told they would do something after our deserts Nothing happened just gave me the bill I paid Brought our coats and saw us out A bit disappointed
