Finally, a New York style atmosphere and experience crosses the Hudson to Central Jersey. Char Steakhouse's innovative cuisine features only the finest cuts of Dry Aged and Prime Beef with fish delivered fresh daily. Guests will dine by landscaped views revealed by towering windows. Mahogany wood walls and ceiling treatments create an authentic steakhouse environment rivaled by none in the New Jersey dining scene. Unique features include four modern fireplaces that are the first of their kind, a curved wall of water that rains serenity in the aptly named Rain Room. Guests can enjoy 7 cuts of the finest quality dry aged beef or snack on oysters and colossal blue crab from our premier raw bar. Seating in the lounge is offered on a first come first serve basis or party goers can reserve arched custom booths for up to twelve. The porterhouse was plain with zero seasoning and no butter. I thought it would be more like Peter Luger‘s. For a name like char, I can assure you there was no char. It was almost like it was boiled. I really like the place and in general like the food, but it was the first time I got the porterhouse and I do not recommend.

What an experience. The cocktails were amazing, steaks hot and delicious. The staff as friendly And helpful. All in all a wonderful evening. Will come here again

Overall great evening at Char. Service was excellent and never felt rushed. Only thing I would say is cappuccino could have been hotter.

Excellent experience. We had the lobster bisque soup which was delicious. The bone in filet w the truffle butter which jus melted on your mouth. The seasonings and texture was perfect and we had the horseradish sauce on the side w the roasted garlic. Soooo good. The creamed spinach was by far THE BEST we have ever had. Really really good. Calamari was alil chewy for me but my husband likes it like that. The marunata a aoili that wasxserved with it were rleally good tho. Ohhhh and the stuffed mushrooms were yummmmyyyy. We ordered th lamb chops and the seasons were soooo good. Really yummy and the mango sauce they serve with it is delightful. Unfortunately I was only able to have one because the others kept cooking while I was eating and they were too tough. Excellent customer service. Toni offered numerous times to remake them and the manager came over to the table and wanted to make sure we were happy with another order. He wanted to comp the meal but we declined the offer for a 3rd shot at it. They came out once over cooked and the 2nd time undercooked. We will try again next time tho because they were very tasty. Overall Excellent experience. Ambiance was great. We went in a Thursday evening at 6pm and wasn't noisey* at all. We sat downstairs and will try to sit there again next time Def treat yourself to a great meal here ENJOY!! Toni was our server and had an amazing experience with her. Shes really great. We will absolutely be back and will ask to dine w her specifically.

For us, this was a special occasion meal and the food and the service were top shelf. We were a little taken back by the sticker shock, but the drinks, steak, salad, lobster, and appetizers were so good, I can’t complain. However, we were very surprised by the dress of the clientele. People were wearing sweats and sneakers in what I consider to be a very expensive and high end restaurant. Our waiter Pierre was an absolute pro. This is not a place for me to frequent often but maybe once or twice a year for a special occasion.

this place def went downhill imo . i wanted to go for anniversary but was loud like insanely loud and not intimate like it was before. The steak was OK , lamb was great as well as tuna tar tar but i gotta say i wont go back. Service was ok . nothing great. they walked around with a cold bread basket, seemed cheap and not classy at all. we went bc we reembered 3 years ago it was really nice. wasnt the same.
