Cipriani always satisfies, food-wise! We have been guests since it first opening as we were residents and I was working in the DIFC. It is the first time I come with my family (including my 5 year old), celebrating my wife’s birthday. Obviously, we didn’t expect any “kid-friendly” service or menu as such (which there wasn’t, you have to order adult portions and pay accordingly), that’s fine. We went there because we like it. However, despite the usual great food we had, restaurant brought a piece of vanilla merengue cake as a birthday surprise (with a happy birthday note and a candle), which I thought was quite considerate. Seeing the bill in the end, disappointed me a lot. You have a nice family dinner, pay over $450 for basically only pasta dishes and a few drinks, and they had the audacity to charge AED 99 for the merengue cake (which could have been compliments of the house). Let’s not discuss the “costs” of an inexpensive merengue cake. Hence, food great as usual, service very poor (for also other reasons I won’t get into details now). Until 2017, service was much better. Nowadays, You can certainly get same level/better Italian food with impeccable service elsewhere in Dubai!
