Originally built in 1780 as a working farm, Clay Hill Farm is now a 200-seat restaurant and special occasion venue nestled amidst 10 private acres of rolling lawns, protected woodlands, and colorful gardens. The first restaurant in the country to be certified as a wildlife habitat and bird sanctuary, Clay Hill Farm is passionate about locally-sourced food and the natural beauty of Maine.     Everything was terrific, restaurant was very pretty driving up driveway with lights everywhere. They have valet parking, nice touch!. Walked in to a piano being played. Seated in the front with large windows to look out. I had a caesar salad with shrimp and my husband had a filet with all the fixing. Did not feel rushed, waiter was fantastic. Food arrived to table at a good pace. Would definitely recommend!

    Lovely dinner to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We had haddock and salmon. Each fish dish was delicious. Service was great. It’s a lovely place with views to the grounds all around.

    We've utilized for the past three years Clay Hill farms for Christmas lunches. Food has always been great, ambiance really cool. Our servers have always been great to deal with. Last Christmas we had 12 folks @ our luncheon. Went smooth as all get out!!!

    Sat us at 6:45, 15 mins before our reservation (party of 2). There were large blocks of time in which our waitstaff went missing. The lobster bisque was awful and seemed microwaved (cold on top, 800 degrees near the bottom of bowl) and smelled weird. The salmon was room temperature and the sides looked like play dough stuffed with lobster chunks. The table and chairs looked like they were teleported from a 1992 banquet hall.We finally got our check at ~9:00. I would not go back, ever. What was intended to be a romantic night out ended up being a night of full of disappointment.

    The ambiance was nice and the venue had rustic charm, but the overall experience unfortunately was underwhelming and didn’t match our expectations. The lobster bisque (which was labeled as award winning) was bad. I rarely leave harsh reviews but it was too thick, the flavor was off, and the texture was odd. Quite disappointing. The short rib was fine, a little dry, but a small portion for $47. Cocktails were good. The chocolate mousse was the star and by far the best thing we had. The servers and all staff were nice and attentive. Pianist was a nice touch. But we will not return because of the food.

    The lobster bisque was good but not hot enough; prime rib lacked flavor, juice in plate was more like water than gravy - poured it onto a side plate; green beans too crunchy. Ice cream Sunday delicious. Dining area nicely upgraded 👍 staff & service perfect
