We are an interactive culinary environment.

At our restaurant we create and interpret the culinary ideas inspired from different cultures, products, and techniques. Our always evolving menu is a result of the interaction and interchange of different experiences.

An open kitchen, eclectic and without limitations.
Because cooking is our passion.

Historically cooking evolved through the interaction and exchange of cultures. Through this premise and advances in technology our project, Cocina Abierta, was born, designed for the sharing and development for our passion.

We reveal all of our secrets and we create the dishes shown on our website and blog.Cocina Abierta also offers a boutique deli with a selection of homemade gourmet products. You will find a selection of breads from around the world and variety of jams, artisanal cheeses and meats, chutneys, and pates. Sweets, chocolates, and baked goods are available.

We were visiting from chicago and this was our first stop once we landed in PR. Please sit at the bar, the bartender Rafael is super passionate about everything he does and taught us so many new things! We had an amazing experience, the food was delicious and flavors well thought out with ingredients I’ve never tried! And the drinks all super refreshing also using locally grown produce and herbs!

Escogimos la degustación de cursos. Excelente oferta. A $85 por persona. Todos los platos están confeccionados con una mezcla de sabores tropicales con ingredientes del patio, muy bien armonizados. Cada uno es una experiencia de sabor única. El servicio de primera . Cada menú varia. En está ocasión seleccioné la ensalada de chayote, los gnocci de pana, el mofongo con pato. Fuimos agasajados con un gazpacho de vianda, cortesía del Chef. Altamente recomendado!

After eating the conch, he , star fruit and coconut soup did not live up the flavor of the soup unfortunately. It wasn’t as good as the soup was by far the bests. My husband enjoyed the tuna carpaccio but was not a fan of then duck Mandingo.

We had the best meal ever last night at cochina abierta. The chef surprised and delighted us with every course. We appreciated that there were so many vegetables used and so many flavours in one dish. We have never had a better meal in San Juan anywhere and that's saying a lot. Again. Such an innovative and delicious evening. We will be back!!! Are so interested to learn about all the other projects as well

The dishes were thoughtfully curated and infused with a variety of spices and flavors. The restaurant’s concept offers the opportunity to participate in a 5 course tasting experience. The menu items are also individually priced. We were not familiar with the menu prior to arrival or the fact that they encourage each guest to indulge in the 5 course tasting experience. We learned this upon arrival. After reviewing the menu, our party of 4 opted to order 2 five course meals, an extra dish and an appetizer - a total of 12 dishes for a party of 4. The part that turned our experience from pleasant and interested, to unpleasant and off-putting was our interaction with the waiter. Our waiter made it perfectly clear through his actions and tone of voice that our decision to share these plates was unsatisfactory - not sure if this is a restaurant trend or his own opinion. He further confined this when we inquired about a gazpacho we overheard another waiter discussing with a table. We were told that because we were sharing, the gazpacho shots weren’t an option. He did check with the kitchen and they decided to make an exception. As it was, our order was plenty for 4 people. We would have over consumed had we ordered more. Still, I think the issue lies in that if they expect each person to order a 5 course meal, they need to make that clear in Open Table and on their website. AND, not offer individually priced items. It could have been great but the service staff was rude and stuck up. We did bring our total tab up with drinks and wine. I hope that made the waiter happy. In the end, we decided, we will not be going back.

Fantastic experience at Cocina Abierta! The food and presentation were amazing. Truly a 5-star experience. We had the 5-course tasting menu and each course was great. Our favorite was the tuna carpaccio and beefsteak, but all were excellent. Puerto Rican fine dining at its best!

Loved everything about this restaurant.delicious food, great presentation and service, easy accessible location. A little bit noisy but manageable. Great place and I will definitely visit this restaurant next time I’m in PR.

La comida tiene buen sabor, pero las porciones son tan ridículamente pequeñas que no vale la pena. Los platos "fuertes" tienen apenas media onza de proteína. Hay un menú de degustación de $85 p/p, pero esa opción la incluyen en la esquina inferior derecha del menú, chiquitita. Si para salir satisfechos hay que comerse los 5 platos, por favor, digan que es un menú de degustación y ya. Fue una experiencia ridícula. La comida sabe bien, pero no es la gloria para tener esos precios. Antes Cocina Abierta servía platos de restaurante fine dining, caro pero era un plato que llenaba. Esto que están sirviendo ahora es un chiste de mal gusto: $200 para terminar con hambre en el supermercado. Vergüenza total.
