Welcome to Copperwood Tavern, located in Shirlington Village. Our menu offers an array of scratch-made dishes and seasonal flavors along with a selection of handcrafted cocktails, 20 Virginia craft beers on tap, and an extensive selection of bourbons and Virginia wines. Copperwood exudes a cozy cabin-style vibe; great for a date night, business lunch, or weekend brunch with the family.
Join us weekdays for lunch, happy hour $2 oysters from 3-6, or dinner!
On weekends we offer brunch from 9am-4pm featuring classics such as chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and bananas foster French toast along with a selection of brunch libations.

My theater group has been to Copperwood Tavern a number of times and will definitely keep retuning. The food and service is always great and there is a terrific variety as well.

All the items on the menu sounded amazing but unfortunately fell flat. The grilled cheese, for example was served with soggy bread on one side, while the short rib was fairly dry. The fried goat cheese was served at room temperature, and the “honey” was so watered down, it may as well been apple juice. The French Toast looked great but it wasn’t custardy at all. Just a bit tough and bland. The short rib benedict was pretty meh as well. The worst part was that at first the server kept rushing us to place an order. When we said we needed a couple of minutes, he just stood there and stared at us. The worst part, however, was the heat. Where we sat happened to be unbearably hot. It felt like we were under heat lamps. We were so uncomfortable, we just wanted to leave. Overall, not the worst, but not somewhere I would like to return to.

Dry good quality food and excellent service. A bit pricey and most main dishes do not come with sides. However, I would recommend this place for a nice dinner.

Wonderful waiter and attentive service. The food was good but some dishes were a bit disappointing. For example the butter and ale chicken and ribeye cheese steak were good; the fried chicken was overcooked and dry. The fried green tomatoes were okay but we found them to be dense and the sauce without flavor.

I hosted a large group to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Most of the guests had never been to Copperwood, but I assure you they will be back. The food was delicious, and our server Louis was perfect in efficiency, friendliness, and knowledge . From starters to dessert, there were no regrets. I love the Shirlington area, and this restaurant is the best.

My husband and went out for a date night, the atmosphere was very relaxed the food was amazing, I had the seafood linguine! The service was great very friendly staff.
