Built in 1790 as a barn and named for local farmer John Kittle, the farm to table connection that began back then continues today at Crabtree's Kittle House. Internationally renowned for its Wine Spectator Grand Award wine list, superlative hospitality and contemporary American cuisine, it is a sophisticated country dining experience located only 45 minutes from Manhattan. Whether stopping in for a casual meal in the Tap Room or planning a formal intimate celebration from 2 to 200 guests, you'll find something for everyone and every occasion at Crabtree's Kittle House. The culinary team focuses on the local bounty of the Hudson Valley, from salads, burgers, & fresh cold shellfish to more refined cuisine, available in both the Tap Room, Main Dining Room and Ivy Hill Room. And nowhere is there a greater selection of fine wines (5000!) and other libations. Also a Bed & Breakfast, there are 14 rooms for overnight accommodations.

    Been here many many times. But the branzino was very bland. Kittle house salad wonderful as was the apple crumble dessert. But disappointed in the branzino.

    We were married at the Kittle House 40 years ago. We have continued to frequent this restaurant. We spent 2023 Thanksgiving there. This year we went for lunch to celebrate the holidays. They sat us in a corner table next to a party of six very loud diners. The service was extremely slow. Although the waiter was friendly, he lacked any knowledge of the menu. When asked if the lobster bisque contained a lot of cream, because of my issues with cream, he responded 'oh yes a lot of heavy cream'. I decided to try it anyway. To my delight it was not ladened with a lot of cream. It was served hot , perfectly. We asked for more bread to accompany the soup, and fresh pepper.Both took forever as the soup cooled. When the bread arrived -no butter. The entrees were lobster roll and duck breast. The lobster roll was tasty and served warm. The chopped tomato could have been left out and more chunks of lobster added. The duck was under cooked actually raw, and had to be sent back to the kitchen. The waiter was asked when the duck was ordered to hold the shiitake mushrooms, lardons, and brussel sprout. He said of course and asked if we wanted a substitution. We said no, the wild rice would be fine. What he did not know was that the shiitake mushrooms were in the wild rice. The blood orange glaze tasted like barbecue sauce , nothing close to a 'blood orange glaze'. The champagne and wine took forever to arrive and no one ever asked if we wanted another glass. We had to request the second round. Again it took forever. Unfortunately , this was a very disappointing visit. I don't think we will be returning . Not sure if this is a new owner issue??? Not the Kittle House we knew and we are use too.

    Food was wonderful - servers were inexperienced - but also kept interrupting us and asking if we were ready - it felt like we were being rushed yet there were plenty of empty tables - kind of took away from the night
