Even though Post is a new name for most of us, it has been an important part of South Hamilton history since 1924. The historic building at 16 Bay Rd. was home to the South Hamilton Post Office, and a place for residents to send and pick up letters. In response to the Great Depression, and a drop in the postage rate (from three cents to 2 cents), the Postmaster added more opportunities for residents to pick up their mail. At Post, which at the time was known as “the brick block building”, letters were piled on a table, and a bell was rung to let residents know that they could come and retrieve their mail. Keeping with that tradition, guests of Post will have an opportunity to “Ring the Bell”, which signifies that they have bought a beer for our hard working kitchen and waitstaff. I liked the Hawthorne. Same menu in either of 2 restaurants (bar or more upscale). My chowder was excellent, terrific sides (onion rings), and good main (my turkey Reuben was good but a bit dry). Excellent service. Music performers were good, although it made conversation a little tougher. I’ll definitely return.

A quiet Wednesday evening dinner for three. The street corn shrimp and crab cake apps were good. Two sushi dishes and a swordfish plate were great. Our server was very attentive. Finz is consistently consistent.; the food and service is top notch.

Went for the New Year’s Day Hip Hop DJ Brunch and it did not disappoint! Tried the housemade donuts (cranberry orange & espresso martini), and they lived up to the hype 100%! Seriously, if we weren’t so full, I would have taken a couple of the orange-cranberry ones to go! Then we had chicken & waffles and the pastrami hash. The chicken was incredibly crispy and the hash was delicious- lots of peppers & onions to complement the pastrami. Music was loud (we were right in front of the DJ) with some great selections! Service was excellent as well. We will definitely be back!
