Located in the Deep Ellum neighborhood, Komodo Dallas features an ultra-contemporary exterior facade that gives way to an inviting indoor-outdoor flow. Shinsei Restaurant - Traditional Sushi / Contemporary Asian KitchenWhen we came up with the concept of Shinsei we wanted a place that reflected our lifestyles: sometimes we went out to dinner with our kids and sometimes with our friends and husbands. We wanted to create a place where a night out with the kids didn’t mean food adults had to suffer through or a night out with the parents didn’t mean a stuffy place where kids had to wear a scratchy clip-on tie. Shinsei is just that: a neighborhood gathering place with date night appeal. But not so unexpected that you won’t be able to decipher the menu or recognize your favorite dish. Our signature poppers, for instance, are a sophisticated mix of late night bar food and sumptuous finger food with a distinctly Asian flair.

Melding the best offerings of Chef Tyson Cole’s first three restaurants (Uchi Austin, Uchiko, and Uchi Houston), the menu includes hot and cold tastings, makimono, yakimono, tempura, sushi, and sashimi.     Exceptional overall. VERY pricey. Felt a bit rushed but it was Christmas Eve and we were a little late. Still… Love the sommelier! Emperors cut was delicious. Cooked perfectly. Enough for a table of 5. Caviar service pretty good but stingy with the blinis. Brussels sprouts with gochujang, DELICIOUS. Soy minionette for oysters- not my favorite. Broiled oysters, a sad miss. May make this an annual Christmas Eve event. It will take all year to save for it. But what fun!

    Go to the wine bar and let them guide you on a tour of Uchis best eats. Zack was our guy and while I was hesitant at first, his selections were incredible. My son and I devoured so many incredible bites - we were in sushi bliss. Not inexpensive but I also thought that for high end sushi, it was a very good value.

    Beautiful decor and warm ambiance. Attentive service. The cocktails were delicious especially the lychee martini. Chicken wraps and honey chicken were average.
