Blacklock is a modern version of the Great British chophouse. Set in an old brothel, we take the best meat in the country from the award winning farmer and butcher Philip Warren in Cornwall. Goldies’ menu focuses on the use of a wood-fired grill, with a selection of small and large plates connected by rich, smoky flavours. Highlights include a Merguez Scotch Egg with harissa mayonnaise, Marinated Baby Chicken with smoked yoghurt, and Grilled Wild Mushrooms, Baby Leek, and a confit egg yolk. Barbeque grew up in the South of the USA where cooks learned to slow roast cuts of meat over fire pits to make them tender. Exposure to the smoke of the smouldering wood added a distinctive smoky taste to the meat. The process could take many hours, leaving the meat tender and juicy.Our award-winning smokers have been imported from the USA and are built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We smoke for up to 16 hours using the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavour.

Seated in a cosy corner and it was surprisingly quiet. Great little venue - small enough that the service was excellent. The milkshakes were amazing, and the burger really fill you up.

Would recommend to meat lovers who like the raw low key fun experience. Great venue with great atmosphere - good music, good attentive service, good drinks, great food for meat lovers. Environment - Low key, loud, smokey, bustling restaurant. Expect an assult on your sense in this purposely low-lit basement smokehouse - providing focus on flaming centrally placed kitchen and the chefs preparing the meat over the flaming BBQ's and grills. Be prepared to share meat cuts as they don't have many cuts under 500g..as they say "when they're gone, they're gone"
