A Classic French Bistro in the heart of Edison Park has been a dream of Executive Chef and owner Joe Calabrese for several years. Joe was professionally trained at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America located in Hyde Park, New York. Before opening his other restaurant, Zia’s Trattoria (located one block west of Café Touché at 6699 N. Northwest Highway) in 1997, he was sharpening his professional – and knife – skills at several well-respected Chicago dining establishments including Ambria, Spiagia, Un Grand Cafe and the Park Hyatt. Joe lives in Park Ridge, a few short miles from the restaurants, so expet to see him in both restaurants assuring a quality experience for his customers.     So I’ll be honest - I didn’t pick the best food for me - but objectively the food was good. The service was next level. The server - without prompting swapped out with another appetizer and comped part of a dish since I wasn’t going to eat the shrimp. Service was top notch!

    Special Valentine’s Day pop up of George Trois. Meal was extraordinary. Ambiance was refined, each of the 6 courses would be the highlight of almost any meal. Service was friendly and efficient. Chef Michael shows that he still stands with the best chef’s in Chicago

    Absolutely wonderful. The meal was incredibly delicious as were the raspberry martinis. They really made it a special Valentines Day dinner with rose petals and little red gems on the tables. We had the mixed greens salad with champagne vinaigrette and the hangar steak. For dessert I had the crème brûlée and my companion the chocolate mousse. Both were excellent. Highly recommend this neighborhood “gem”.

    I've been to 501 before and have never been disappointed. The food was terrific. The waitstaff is great. We were seated at a table that was off to the side so it was quiet and my friends and I could catch up with ease. Highly recommend 501!
