Steeped in history, The Lion dates back about 500 years, and was built when King Charles I was on the British throne and even before the famous Gunpowder Plot of 1605. Originally constructed as a house, for centuries the quirky building has been welcoming visitors as a traditional British pub. With its low ceilings, exposed beams and homely inglenook fireplaces, it has all the charm of what you expect from a historic pub and restaurant. Listed as one of the Britain’s most important buildings, this is a slice of history set right in the heart of the Somerset countryside in a popular English village.     Wow we were so impressed. Every thing about our service and food was 10/10. We arrived early and were happy to grab a drink or 2 at the bar but our table was ready. Therefore we ate before planned and wow. We searched and searched for a lovely roast in Bath and I’m so glad we came across this place. The beef, roasties, sides, service.. nothing could have been better. Highly recommend to anyone looking to book!

    Incredible experience!! From the minute we entered to the moment we left we loved everything. All staff were very helpful and smiling! (Like they enjoy what they do!) The food!! OUT OF THIS WORLD!! We went here for the first time for my son’s 10th birthday and we can’t wait to return!

    What a lovely place. Stumbled upon this pub as we did not want to eat in Glastonbury and is only a short drive, it is down a dark country road but well lit. We were taken aback when we walked in by the character and welcoming staff. Honestly they could not do any more for us, let us try the tap beers and gave a choice of where we wanted to sit. Very attentive staff very pleasant. The food came quickly and was so delicious we both had fish stew, I am not a great fan of fish but this was something special and generous portion of bread to go with it. Will definately return if ever in the area and they also have rooms which look as inviting as the pub. There has been great care and attention taken with this country pub it is a credit to the staff. It is a real hidden gem!!
