Shorty’s GoodTimes Bar is a laid-back spot with an old school vibe. At Shorty's -- retro games, such as darts, shuffleboard, giant connect four, foosball and pinball, are mixed with more modern elements, like a vintage style but ‘social ready’ photo booth, a digital train station split-flap sign of a busy schedule of “arriving and departing” beer selections and house made craft-draft cocktails, PLUS an epic 1970’s basement inspired karaoke room. Our open kitchen turns out scrumptious comfort food like Fried Chicken, Short Rib Mac & Cheese + Big Sammies. Outside, our camp-style fire pits are the perfect place to kick back and cozy up. Butterjoint is a comfy bar and restaurant located in North Oakland. Our welcoming and eclectic atmosphere is appropriate for almost any occasion - whether it be meeting a friend for a drink, celebrating an important event, or relaxing after work. Our menu is a mixture of familiar Pittsburgh foods (think pierogies, hamburgers, French fries) and French bistro classics (beef tartare, raclette, mussels), and seasonal classics that come and go throughout the year. We put care into our vegetarian dishes too, including making our own tempeh, falafel, and veggie patties from scratch. Menu items change frequently--usually every day--and reflect many long-standing relationships we have with farms and breweries in our region. In addition to reservations, we also have a thirty seat bar that is first come, first serve. We don’t know exactly how old the bar is, but it’s at least seventy years old (probably older) and very cozy. Our friendly bartenders are here to make something you like.

If you are looking for a true hug this is your spot. What a surprise as you walk into the gorgeous bar and then to the back of the restaurant where you are transported to a lodge, cabin, a time travel where pubs began? The immense drink menu had us gobsmacked at the banana old fashioned and festive cocktails, but vinos on tap? Pierogis were legit homemade and the bison meatloaf was a chef kiss and the hug you need on a cold night. Dessert was a true treat and the French press was smooth and delicious.
