Delarosa is an Italian-style restaurant in downtown San Francisco. It has a free and open design with large, communal tables for many different guests to share during a meal. There is also stool seating around the edges of the restaurant near the bar area. This is a well lit restaurant with long lines of bright pendants lights hanging from the ceilings. Pizza is the main focus at Delarosa, but other Italian cuisine is also offered. During the weekdays, a lunch and dinner menu is offered with frittis, paninis, spiedinis and pasta with your choice of sauce meats and toppings. A large variety of pizza is also offered, including the delicious margherita or spicy marinara pizzas. We went to Coqueta to celebrate my niece's birthday. They were not very busy mid-day on a Thursday. Service was exceptional, attentive, helpful, simply lovely. My favorite dishes were the steak, patatas bravas, boquerones, octopus, the beet and kale salads. The Manchego with grapes, grape must jam (?) was delicious, as well as the croquetas de jamon. The cocktails were great. I had one of the gin and tonics (Balta?), and heard good things about one of the Margaritas and the white wine selected by my sister. The Catalan style vegetables with nuts and raisins was good, but I am used to spinach instead of broccoli and would have preferred that. The Marcona almonds were fresh, but very salty. Their menu has something for everyone, though it was a challenge to accommodate the preferences of an 11 year old grand niece who does not like seafood, mayonnaise (aioli on croquetas and by patatas bravas. Look forward to returning.

This is a hidden gem. I live close by and had never been here before. I celebrated my birthday with pitchers of margaritas that were perfect. The food was delicious but would benefit from more options. The mole enchiladas were delicious. The flan was also delicious. I will come again.
