Bluestone is a Chicago-style restaurant in Evanston that offers homestyle cooking in a warm and welcoming environment. Owner John, whose obsession with golf led to the more than 250 pin flags decorating the restaurant, opened Bluestone after transitioning from commercial film production. His goal was to create a locale that was filled with friendliness and familiar faces, all while serving a variety of menu options with a hometown feel. Guests can enjoy favorites like crab cakes, or branch out and discover a new one from their wrap, soup, quesadilla or burger menus. You must try the octopus appetizer. So tender! I'll definitely return for the food in general, excellent service and good wine selection. The octopus alone justifies another visit to the Alcove. To the chef, management and waitstaff, keep up the good work.

Darling! We really enjoyed this dog friendly, neighborhood gem. Solid food and drinks. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Our host- Sandra was stellar. Also had the pleasure of meeting Mark, the owner. They have something good going here. Thank you!

We enjoyed its convenience to Redtwist Theater. The food was made on site with fresh ingredients. I highly recommend the broccoli soup. Our server was delightful and efficient. Atmosphere is sophisticated and comfortable. This is clearly a place where people come both for just a cup of coffee or a nice sit-down meal. Don't be confused by the Julius Meinl signs on the outside. This is not just a coffee shop!
