Chapter One is an award-winning Modern European restaurant with 3 AA Rosettes in Orpington, Kent. Following a major refurbishment in early 2019, Chapter One has relaunched with a more modern approach, tempting guests with greater variety and quality.Under the direction of acclaimed chef Andrew McLeish, modern European cooking is available in two formats. In the Restaurant, sophisticated seasonal dishes are served in a refined setting with a weekly changing 3-course Lunch Menu du Jour, a seasonally-inspired 7-course Tasting Menu and an a la carte option. In the more informal Brasserie, a selection of favourites are cooked to perfection with the finest ingredients. The drinks offering is as exciting with an AA Notable Wine List, premium spirits, and cocktails. There is also a private dining room for corporate and private occasions.

Canary Wharf workers have a new waterfront wine bar as Humble Grape opened on Mackenzie Walk, along the water’s edge.On the wine list you’ll find 30 wines by the glass (they’ll rotate these regularly) as well as more than 400 wines by the bottle all with the focus on wines from small family wineries that champion sustainable, organic, or biodynamic practices. Not been for a while, and booked the brasserie. The staff from the moment I walked in, I could not fault - they were friendly and efficient. Starters, there was a good choice, well presented & tasty. Mains - ribeye, was well cooked. My wife had the sea bass, which was ok, but a little underwhelming. Desserts - sticky toffee pudding lived up to its name ! Again the lady waitress was excellent, friendly, chatty, and knowledgeable. I will definitely go back.

We got the roast, the chicken one looked a bit anaemic but the beef was tasty. Live music playing which was a nice atmosphere. There were some dogs allowed in which didn’t bother us. Service was great in the beginning and then after we asked for the dessert menu, we never saw the server again .

My dining companion and I had a lovely lunch on a Friday. Food and service very good. The restaurant was very quiet as we were the only diners for a while. Would visit again.
