Welcome to dLeña, a Wood-Fire Mexican Cocina & Mezcaleria by Chef Richard Sandoval.dLeña is derived from the Spanish word “leña,” meaning firewood. The restaurant is centered around it’s wood-burning grill - a nod to the rustic open-fire cooking techniques of Mexico’s past. The menu transports diners to Mexico through a multi-sensory experience in every bite of the signature smoked entrées, fresh ceviches, and unique sharing plates. Three brothers and a brother-in-law from El Salvador realized their long-held dream of opening a restaurant together in November of last year. Jaime Sorto, his brothers Hugo and Jose Bonilla, and his brother-in-law Jose Zelaya looked for a name that symbolizes their concept of two cultures coming together.They chose La Malinche, the name given to a historical figure who has been at the center of controversy for centuries. The noble Mexican woman was enslaved and given to Hernán Cortés, a Spanish conquistador. She became his interpreter and confidante. Their son was viewed as the first mestizo, a child of mixed blood.Many Mexicans consider La Malinche or Doña Marina to have been a traitor, but today, she is also honored as the symbolic mother of the country’s mixed-race people.At La Malinche, all of the starters, vegetables, meats and seafood are served as Spanish tapas, called botanas in Mexico.

    We came to celebrate my husband’s birthday and our anniversary. Loved the esthetic appropriately decorated for Christmas. Our server Merybeth was exceptional! She was welcoming very attentive, and anticipated our needs. Merybeth made our whole experience rate it 5 stars. Now the food, we ordered the Tomahawk steak with Zanahorias al carbon(roasted heirloom carrots) and papa al horno(wood-fired baked potato). The steak was cooked at medium temperature, juicy, tender and seasoned to perfection. The steak was infused with herbs flambé at our table side which made the experience exquisite! We also ordered the Queso fundido with beef and ceviche Amarillo which very delicious. Everything was beautifully plated! We will definitely be coming back!

    Came for Sunday brunch! Decided on the bottomless mimosas and bottomless brunch (I think that's the name of it), and the food was delicious. The serving staff, including our waiter - Alexis H - was fabulous and very attentive. Our waiter was very helpful with his suggestions for delicious things to try and checked back with us regularly to make sure that we had everything we needed! I believe even the manager came over at one point to refill the mimosas (very much appreciated!) We will definitely return!

    Had a wonderful experience! Took my partner here for his birthday and we had a blast. We also did the cocktail pairing. The presentation was super fun. Most importantly, we loved the drinks!
