I am never disappointed when coming to Chef Smelly's. I love love love the food. Only thing it is don't come here really really hungry because the wait is long but I feel like it's worth the wait.

1st visit. Great menu, just beed a chef that knows how to cook southern food. It was horrible. I tried two items, the first was shrimp appetizer. It was just overly spicy, no flavor, just hot. Returned it and ordered catfish suggest. They were soggy, I ate on those b/c I was hungry. The bartender still charged me 1/2 price for the horrible shrimp I returned. Bartender could not make an old-fashioned cocktail, but said he could. Nice guy, but stick to beer or wine, something that has 2 items only. I was there for the music. I'll be back, I'll eat dinner b4 I come next time. Loved the place, very old school blues vibe. Meet new people there, but if they are missing the mark on the food. I'm in the food industry, and I see huge potential if they had a chef that specialized in Southern foods. Biscuits were bland. I was told the Latina chef just follows a menu. That is not cool..

Chef Lala (Resident Chef on Saturdays & Tuesdays) was on point ! The flavors were impeccable and methodically thought out. Not too much of this or not enough of that ( I LOVE BALANCE ). Do yourself a favor and try what calls your name, but don’t miss out on the super fresh beignets at the end. You won’t be disappointed.
