Tired of the loosely French inspired humdrum of restaurants popping up across the city of London? Do you like holidays? Do you like cold drinks and warm service? If you've answered yes to one or more of these then perhaps Tollington's can refresh both your pallet and your mind. The idea came from a mirror in an antiques market and a love for a more informal approach to dining, the result is a chippy in North London with old church pews bolted to the walls to be leaned on and eaten from. The focus is on fish but the menu transcends fish, mammals and vegetables, leaving no stone unturned in the never ending quest for flavour. Split between two rooms, the front the engine, the kitchen and bar shared by customers as they perch on bar stools and enjoy dinner and a show. We had a fantastic experience at Claude’s celebrating our son’s birthday. The service was fantastic, very attentive, and the food was delicious. From the drinks to the appetizers to the desserts - everything was delicious.

What a wonderful hidden gem. The food was absolutely delicious with very generous portions and great value. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning, the next time we are in town.

Nice place, needs smartening up a little. Lick of paint, new tables and chairs. Food was good, but the kitchen couldn't cope with the amount of orders so closed for 45 minutes to catch up. Not the best experience, especially when you are pushed for time
