We enjoyed a dinner for my husband's birthday and while all of the food and drinks were delicious, the service left something to be desired. At a restaurant of this caliber I expect to be asked if I would like another drink when my cocktail is gone and that when a soda refill is brought out that it is the correct type. I appreciated our server not rushing us, but it was actually too long of a wait after submitting our oyster order and placing our entre order. I'm not sure if the lack of attention was due to our booth being around a corner, the fact that the restaurant filled in with diners or that we had an inexperienced server (very polite and answered questions about menu when asked directly).

EsterEv makes you feel like you are a celebrity being cooked for at a close friends home. The service is so friendly and familiar while still being extremely professional. This was my second time at EsterEv and it is such a hidden gem. The food is incredible and fresh and uniquely prepared and presented. I kept telling the server how I could never conceive of cooking like this at home which is of course part of the reason dining out at a place like this is a special treat. The sausage dish was transcendent. The bread and broth were like a warm hug on a cold night and the tiny tart at the end was the icing on top. We drove from Chicago and it was worth every minute and every penny. Highly recommend.

The ambience was one of the best in Milwaukee. We got a seat right by the window, and I love the old architecture inside the building. Our food was delicious, I would highly recommend the sourdough with truffle cheddar and chive butter as an appetizer. The only thing I wish is that they had more steak options. They only had one steak option was $45 sirloin steak. Other than that, it was great!

My wife and I are big fans of Birch, which is why we dined here on Valentine’s Day. We sat at the chef’s counter and really enjoyed the experience from beginning to end. It’s easy to see why Chef Knall is a 2025 James Beard nominee for best Chef Midwest. The GM at Birch is so personable and acknowledges us on every visit. It’s no wonder his staff is so helpful and courteous. Book your reservation with confidence.

Bavette has the best roast beef sandwich I’ve ever eaten, and there is no close second. It’s pricey but worth it. Absolutely delicious. Attentive service, casual but professional ambiance.
