Centered in the heart of Los Angeles, the historic building in which it resides was originally erected in 1929 by Charlie Chaplin, and later transformed into the iconic La Brea Bakery and Campanile Restaurant. République builds on this storied past, offering a gastronomic environment imbued with history and grandeur. The space features a casual bakery, café, and bar in the front with a more formal dining area located in the rear, serving a French-inspired menu created daily by our chefs.

Chef/Owner Ludo Lefebvre puts his spin on classic French flavors including the cult-favorite Big Mec burger, swimming in rich Bordelaise sauce, perfectly roasted Heritage chicken with compressed potatoes fried in clarified butter, a French Dip sandwich served with a version of the restaurant's onion soup for dipping, and lots more. A.O.C. is a small plates restaurant driven by seasonal ingredients, locally sourced. Our California French cuisine was developed by Chef Suzanne Goin, and also features Mediterranean influences. We have 24 wines by the glass and 150 bottles to choose from, curated by Caroline Styne, all of which are either organic, biodynamic or sustainable. Featuring a full bar with premium spirits and specialty cocktails. AOC is proud to offer both outdoor and indoor dining. Our patios feature shared heaters, however we highly recommend bringing appropriate outerwear for your comfort. Unfortunately, inclement weather may affect our ability to honor your reservation. In the event of rain, we will notify you as soon as possible to communicate any weather related cancellations and to assist you with rescheduling your reservation. Beginning November 4th, a.o.c. will require that all guests require proof of vaccination or negative results from a Covid test taken within 72 hours of entry.

My wife and I have been going to MEET in Paris for years. Last night's meal was the best we've ever had there. My steak was tender and delicious and all the food was excellent.

I hosted a small dinner party to celebrate my dad's birthday, and we had an absolutely wonderful evening! The food was fantastic, with a great variety of dishes to choose from. Every item we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The bar options and wine list were equally impressive, offering something for everyone to enjoy. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and professional—which made the experience even more special. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and we can’t wait to come back again soon!
