Entering the Saloon, a family owned restaurant since it opened in 1967 is a bit like stepping into Philadelphia's past. We’ve been patronizing the restaurant since before COVID, both the restaurant and the grocery. Consistently, the food, service, and overall dining experience are excellent. On this particular occasion, there were three of celebrating a birthday. From start to finish, the service could not have been better — efficient, friendly, and helpful. All three of us had the special Branzino dish, and each had a different salad or appetizer. The dishes all exceeded our high expectations. We could not stay for dessert, but purchased a pint of the Desire gelato for consumption at home. Needless to say, the gelato was over-the-top.

We went on Christmas Eve for drinks at the bar with friends and then a 5 course prix fixe dinner for 2. Both experiences were fabulous. Quality bartender and the table service team was top notch: professionally urgent, menu advice, flexible to small adjustments, on top of clearing and packaging to go, no time holes in waiting for food or drinks, EXCELLENT FOOD. I am embarrassed I lived in Philly for 21 years before coming here. I have been missing out. Will definitely be back.

Great food, ambience, and service. Alexis took great care of us. The chicken Milanese and poblano peppers were a hit. Drinks were excellent. A nice early Christmas treat for our family!
