Momotaro is a multi-level Japanese restaurant located in the West Loop. Led by Executive Chef Gene Kato, Momotaro has had the honor of being named Restaurant of the Year in both Chicago Magazine and Chicago Social. Under Kato’s leadership the restaurant has come to define the balance between traditional values and modern technique, blending the two in a science and art that has resulted in an authentic, innovative menu. The restaurant, designed by the world renowned AvroKO, also contains the subterranean Izakaya at Momotaro (a laid back, lively lower-level bar and restaurant reminiscent of the neon-lit haunts of trendy Tokyo neighborhoods) and an elegant second floor private space that overlooks the main dining room.

The Izakaya is located on the subterranean level of Momotaro. The Izakaya and its shared-plates pub-inspired menu echoes the Yokocho street scene of Tokyo. Narrow lounge-inspired ‘alleys’ around a central bar bedecked with hand-painted Japanese menus, moody neon lights, and vintage Tokyo street signs set the scene for the Izakaya’s direct nod to Tokyo’s most famous post-war black markets.     I didn't arrive at my hotel until 8p due to a delayed flight. Most restaurants booked their last seating at 9p even if closing at 10p. The Evie closes at 10p but will let you book a 9:45p reservation. Fantastic! This allowed me an opportunity to freshen up and then head over. The service, food, and ambiance are rated 5 stars across the board. I always enjoy my time at The Evie!

    Phenomenal experience! I think this is genuinely the best sushi in Chicago. The drinks were also phenomenal—I highly recommend the lychee martini. Can’t wait to return!

    We came here to celebrate our son’s birthday and RPM was amazing ! The steaks and the butters with them were great, the garlic spinach and the crispy Brussels sprouts were awesome ! Our waiter and the ambience all fantastic we made a great pick 100%! I loved the Delmonico ribeye from Beeman Ranch , they boys devoured the 10oz filet since they like it lean , and Susan said the Black cod was soooooo good! -At the end they gave Austin a large cotton candy lol and it was a nice touch to have his name on our menu wishing him happy birthday!

    Went to celebrate my son’s 25th birthday. Outstanding experience. Sarah our waitress was excellent. I’ve been to nobu many times and i think allowing the waitress to put together the meal is the best way to go. Keeps the price in the range you want and it’s all about the experience. Beverage’s were refilled quickly and plates were removed quickly. Something you would expect for the price and location. I eat here for business regularly but never took the family. I’m very pleased that the experience was on par with my expectations. Will be back with regularity.
