Rengaya has been serving YAKINIKU in North Sydney since 1993, making it one of Australia’s pioneering Japanese barbeque restaurants. Now, that tradition is set to continue at its new digs on Miller Street – just a short stroll from the original location – in a much more modern, striking setting. The new fit-out features bar-counter seats around an open kitchen, red booth seating divided by Japanese-style timber panelling and a hard-to-miss chandelier. Masuya Restaurant is located in a building, which has been designated as a cultural asset, on O’Connell Street in Sydney. This is the same place as the office of Kanematsu Gosho, the pioneer of Australia – Japan trades, was situated in 1980. Masuya Restaurant opened in 1993, then full renovation was implemented in 2006.The approx. five meters long sushi counter, designed by architect Robert Toland in ‘kabuki red’ with an idea of the stage of kabuki, has since fascinated not only local Australian customers but also various people with different backgrounds.A showcase displays more than 20 different sushi ingredients everyday including locally produced fish, which is purchased on the day. Other carefully selected ingredients are wagyu beef, free-range pork, and seasonal vegetables. Specially designed tableware of Malcolm Greenwood and tables made of Tasmanian Oak is also creating a great atmosphere. Enjoy your time in this amazing space of hospitality.

    We’ve dined at this local gem on several occasions and each time, the staff was attentive and the food was good. Came for my birthday on the last outing and the staff made such a lovely fuss. Food is always spot on and cooked well.

    I got thr premium buffet on a Saturday night, so it was very busy but the service was quick and amazing, This is my second time coming here, first time was OMG Amazing ..!! Like had to be my fav Jap all you can eat.. meat was soft juicy and amazing.. i highly rated it.. But sadly second time I came i was a little disappointed.. wagyu was a little chewy, beef tongue was frozen, but overall I was still happy with it, but not sure now if I'll come back especially for the premium price.

    The sushi omakase at Rhodes Central Komatsu is always excellent. The thoughtful attention to detail, great ingredients, and the skills of the seasoned chef always provide a fantastic experience, which is why I visit this place several times a year. Additionally, it’s even better because it’s close to my home. Although they also operate dine-in services, it’s never chaotic, and the fact that they only take one set of guests at a time is always a great choice for me, as I enjoy taking my time to savor the food.
