MEC has become my wife's and my favorite dinner spot when we're in Portland. Everything tastes fresh, freshly made and full of flavor. Last night we had eggplant dip, Moroccan chicken, Greek potatoes and grilled lamb chops, all done perfectly. The dip had just the right amount of smokiness. The potatoes were amazing--potatoes! The lamb larger than expected and cooked just as requested. We had to wait a few minutes for our table, but wine was served meantime. The wait line remained constant until 9:30, giving a hint to the energetic vibe that continued all evening. The ambience is as lively as the flavors.

One of our go-to places in Portland over the last 10 years since we’ve lived here. Consistently excellent food and service in an unpretentious and casual atmosphere. Also a thoughtful and well-stocked wine list with many moderately priced bottles. Great overall experience.

WOW! I had a high bar for Trela to meet for me to be happy with a Taverna. I grew up going to Alexis in Portland frequently, birthdays, family celebrations, my own children's favorite memories all had a part with Alexis. When we traveled to Greece we realized how good and how authentic not just the food was but the hospitality and energy were. We were so spoiled and then Alexis closed and there was a gaping hole in the Portland food scene. Real Greek food. Trela is that place, from the moment we stepped in the door until we said good night, we felt like family. We enjoyed about half of the menu and every dish was as good or perhaps better than our memories. Service was wonderful, nice wine list and drinks. Lots of energy, people having a great time and enjoying great food. Staff was for the most part young, it was so encouraging to see so many youthful faces happly tending the tables. The chef even was seen making the rounds to greet guests at the tables and welcome them asking them how dinner was etc. The food was so good from our Trio of dips and pitas to start all the way to the desserts. They are also opening a Greek Sweets bakery next door (early March opening) We will be back again and again. THANK YOU for opening Trela!

Food is fantastic! Expensive but worth it. Service is very nice but not readily around if you need anything. No matter where you sit Very busy place most of the time.
