The Ivy restaurant has been a firm fixture on London’s dining and social scene since 1917. The restaurant and private room upstairs are the epitome of real glamour. A shimmering central dining bar in the restaurant draws admiring attention, and the signature harlequin stained-glass windows, oak panelling and striking contemporary art collection ensure the longevity of this very British of dining institutions. Executive Chef Gary Lee creates balanced seasonal menus, featuring Ivy classics, but accounting for today’s tastes, incorporating more Asian dishes, salads and vegetables, and the advent of a “sea and shells” section. Director Fernando Peire leads a strong and experienced team to deliver the unfaltering service for which The Ivy has become well known over the years. We had a table booked for 7.00pm and were lucky to be seated by the window with a fantastic view of Tower Bridge and The Shard. Having been to 14 Hills previously we know that the restaurant is beautifully decorated and added to this were some lovely Christmas decorations. I ordered the Sea Bream, which was outstanding. My partner ordered the Turkey dinner but unfortunately his food was luke warm and the meat quite tough. He complained and was offered an alternative which was quickly brought to our table. Overall an enjoyable evening and thankfully the complaint was dealt with quickly and professionally. Would definitely go back.

Lovely setting. Nice table - had the gnocchi was lovely. Dessert had lemon meringue. Nice spot in the city and reasonably priced.
