Pompei, on Taylor Street, is a fast casual “counter service” restaurant. It has a long-standing history throughout the Chicago area ever since it was first established in 1909. When first opened, Pompei served only baked bread and cheese pizzas. Over the years, the restaurant has expanded its menu to include many delectable dishes that have quickly become favorites for many of the locals while remaining true to its original roots.The dine-in menu features Italian sausage, hand rolled pizzas like the Signature Pizza Pompei or the Four Cheese and Tomato, plenty of house made pasta like the gnocchi and cheese ravioli and an array of pizza strudels like the Beef Angelo and the Pompei Italiano. Pompei also features incredible, freshly made desserts like the chocolate cannoli, "Italian chocolate sheet cake", bread pudding and the Taylor street cheesecake.     A lively restaurant on the Ogden slip featuring delicious pizza along with a selection of very good italian options. Very busy but the wait staff is friendly, knowledgable and attentive. Well worth a visit...but I suggest you make a reservation given this is a very popular restaurant!

    All of the food was terrific! The fettucine alfredo and the gnocchi were delicious, and the margherita and pepperoni pizzas were a big hit for our table. Also, the meatballs to start were great as was the white bean dip.

    il Carciofo is BEAUTIFUL. It’s open and airy and has great classic Chicago Italian restaurant vibes but in a modern open space. The food is amazing. Classic dishes like carbonara and handmade pastas that are simple but done at an exceptionally high level and quality. It felt warm and homey but still so creative. Must gets: - Carciofo Alla Guida - maybe the coolest and unique preparation of artichokes I’ve ever had. Delicious and lemony and crispy. - Pesce Spada Crudo - Joe Flamm does crudo better than anyone and I’ll fight you on that - Rigatoni Alla Carbonara - the perfect al dente rigatoni with the most luxurious eggy guanciale carbonara Can’t wait to be back to try many, many more things on this menu.
