The Late August name derives from the joyful time of year when the Sears catalog would arrive at your doorstep, bringing a deep desire and wonderment to all who would receive it and begin feverishly circling the items that would hopefully arrive for Christmas.Our restaurant, set in the previous Historic Downtown Sears building, seeks to bring that same wonder to guests through its atmosphere, service, and cuisine. Located in a former auto shop in the vibrant Montrose neighborhood near The Menil Collection and Museum District, Clark’s Houston is the third and largest location of our popular neighborhood oyster bar and seafood restaurant. Liberty Kitchen & Oysterette (LKRO) prides itself in it’s Oyster Bar. The multiple use seating at and around the Oysterette is inviting and friendly. We had a great meal. The kitfo was awesome. I had a smash burger which was done well. Good flavor and my fries were very good. My wife had the chili relleno It was excellent. Wish we lived in Houston. This would be one of our downtown favorites. Till next time.

One of my favorite restaurants in Houston. The food is always on point. The staff are all personable. The overall esthetic of the restaurant is well thought out and pleasing. When the weather is nice the outdoor seating is a huge bonus.

We really dug the vibe. The interior is really stylish. The only thing we thought that was lacking was our particular server’s service. When I requested a second cocktail and asked him to surprise me with something vodka based, he brought a “French 76”, made with vodka instead of gin. Notwithstanding whether or not such a drink exists vis a vis the known “French 75” drink, he should have known that I had JUST finished a French 75, in part because I had the same gin style glass on my table. This is not service I would expect from a Michelin level restaurant (I know this one did not get one, but maybe you are gunning for it), many of which me and my wife have been too, including multiple Three Star restaurants! The waiter should be more aware as being delivered such a drink might be thought of as being lazy or dismissive towards the diner. My wife and I are well prepared to pay large amounts for a top notch dinner as well, and we are more likely to do so when a restaurant succeeds in ALL categories.
