The Bibendum Oyster Bar - a local stalwart - is steered masterfully under the direction of Lyon born 2 Michelin-starred chef Claude Bosi. The large tiled foyer of the great Michelin building remains, and it’s great for a glass of fizz and a few oysters (there are always many varieties to choose from), and also perfect to stay a bit longer for a more leisurely lunch or dinner. Expect plenty of fresh seafood; oysters, langoustine and the signature seafood platters - alongside a comprehensive yet affordable wine list. Our inspiration is the Zeus Faber… John Dory, one of many local fish that can be fished sustainably and from our shores and although it has a wonderful Latin come Greek name it also has a very British name, John Dory. Faber is the Latin word for ‘Smith’ – Like a few other Latin occupational names (e.g. Agricola for farmer, Nauta for sailor). For fish- lovers , this restaurant is for them. The staff are extremely kind and welcoming. There are are a range of tables of all sizes. During warm weather , the outside terrace is great for a perfect view of the river. We had a very attentive waiter , and he served us a range of small and large plates. The grilled seabream was perfect : very crispy on the outside and with succulent flesh , also good was the fried haddock. This was our fourth visit and we intend to return to try the prawns.

We changed our reservation three times and every time we’re met with quick efficient positive responses. On the night Mike the manager went above and beyond to give us a really special evening. They were super busy but everything was fast and good. The food was delicious I had the Kiev and big portions to boot. Go there now! It’s superb. Thanks Mike.
