Masuya Restaurant is located in a building, which has been designated as a cultural asset, on O’Connell Street in Sydney. This is the same place as the office of Kanematsu Gosho, the pioneer of Australia – Japan trades, was situated in 1980. Masuya Restaurant opened in 1993, then full renovation was implemented in 2006.The approx. five meters long sushi counter, designed by architect Robert Toland in ‘kabuki red’ with an idea of the stage of kabuki, has since fascinated not only local Australian customers but also various people with different backgrounds.A showcase displays more than 20 different sushi ingredients everyday including locally produced fish, which is purchased on the day. Other carefully selected ingredients are wagyu beef, free-range pork, and seasonal vegetables. The staff at Clam Bar made last night so memorable for us all. The table was perfect - a booth in the back of the restaurant that comfortable sat us all. Felt like we were in downtown New York amongst the wood panelling and jazz music. The service was wonderful, the food exceptional. We will be back.

What a wonderful culinary experience. We started with a bottle of the Tyrells Doyles Semillion. Later ordering the hot and cold seafood platter for two. A great selection of seafood that we are afraid to say we could not finish however walked away satiated. The service from our waitress Rosie was impeccable as was our view of the ocean lapping the shore. What an amazing way to spend the day.

The food was exceptional – authentic Italian flavors that transported us straight to Italy. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the wood-fired pizza was simply divine. The wine selection complemented our meal perfectly, and the desserts were the perfect ending to a fantastic evening.
