Opera Tavern is a beautiful two-storey bar and restaurant in the heart of central London’s theatre land. Established in 1987, Meson Don Felipe was the first Tapas Bar in London and we are still an independent, family-run business. You can expect great tapas and some amazing, well-priced Spanish wines, served in an authentic, relaxed atmosphere. Had good memories from the last time I went in 2013 so was very pleased to enjoy it just as much this time. Speedy service pre theatre. Mum loved it too. We sat at the counter on bar stools but I didn’t miss having g a table. Will come again.

We regularly go here after visiting The Young Vic. There’s always a warm welcome, great food and efficient service. The room can feel a bit tight and noisy when full - which it usually is - but that’s no bad thing on a street with plenty of alternatives! As a vegetarian, I always have some good options from the ‘Garden’ section of the menu, but who wouldn’t want more?! A good chickpea dish, for example, or beans? But the tortilla, escalivada (peppers, onions, aubergines and tomatoes) and berenjenas (battered aubergines) will always keep me happy - and the vegetarian paella is fantastic!

We liked everything about this place, the atmosphere, the lighting, deco, the service the food was amazing (save the sangria which needs to be improved). Not too noisy. It comes at a price and we wished that tapas were a bit more generous

Lovely place for lunch around Southwark. Nice view rooftop and a little Mediterranean garden ambience would be perfect for quick brunch with friends in the summer time. While lobster rice was delicious!
