General Public is inspired by trying to imagine what an upscale English pub would be if it had the heart of an American brasserie (and was open 11 to 11). It’s also going to signal a little bit of steakhouse, but not too much. And finally, it will look behind itself at the Black Hoof, which you will see reflected in James Santon’s menu here and there. In terms of vibe, the main floor is ‘everything’s gone green’, with lush comfortable banquette seating, warm wood, and barstools designed for long conversations over many cocktails. Upstairs you’ll find a completely different space that transports you to a peachy 80s dream. Somehow these two halves make perfect sense, and complement each other in a seamless conversation, where neither wins the argument, but you really do have to see it! See you soon!

    Daphne is a restaurant truly worthy of 5 stars! I hosted my friends here for a galentines day brunch and we were truly impressed. The food was PHENOMENAL with each dish plated beautifully and rich with flavour. The staff was courteous, attentive, and friendly. Our server Armand aimed to please and succeeded in taking such great care of our table! The restaurant is SO LOVELY! The luxurious interior design adds to the experience. The manager Amanda also checks in on the tables and is so helpful with any special requests. I would highly recommend Daphne to anyone who loves delicious food, A+ service, and great vibes.

    Seared Salmon Sushi was FANTASTIC! Really really had a lovely time here, everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. Drinks were amazing and our server was very attentive.

    The dinner was excellent. The proportions were perfect and well paced. Everything was delicious. The wine was excellent, as always. thank you Jing for not only describing the wine but giving us the histories of producers. Thank you to the team that took care of us.     Lovely restaurant tucked away on King St. Close to theatres so makes for a great dinner pre show. Service was top notch and the food amazing. Serve staff did not miss a beat. Wonderful experience. Thanks La Fenice
