Our kitchen is lead by two time Ora King Finalist Jay Huang. Our food is Modern Nikkei cuisine, a balance of Japanese cuisine accentuated with the fragrant chilies and aromatic spices of Latin America. Prime dry-aged fish is here. A tradition started over 200 years ago in Tokyo and now the first in Texas. Prime Dry Aged Fish will allow you to taste the fish in its purest form. Top Roe is a Yōshoko Japanese restaurant located in Austin Texas. Created by Executive Chef Paul Qui, there are two experiences offered under one roof: Top Roe Izakaya and Top Roe Hand Roll. Our 12-seat handroll counter operates on a first come, first served basis. Because no one likes a soggy handroll, Top Roe’s handrolls are exclusively offered at the handroll counter. The handroll counter also encourages a 30-to-45-minute dining experience to preserve the integrity of the freshly made handrolls. Top Roe’s menu in the izakaya-style dining room offers a small plate menu featuring agemono(fried dishes), yakimono (grilled dishes) and cold plates dictated by what’s available from Qui’s favorite local farms and meat and seafood purveyors. Stay for a while if you’d like! The izakaya dining room is designed to welcome longer dining experiences than its in-and-out handroll bar counterpart.

    We arrive here on our reservation time. I like that’s it’s quite. The server was very good I wanted the steak and egg (medium well) but she said order it on medium so it’s not dry so I went with it, don’t regret it I loved it. My girl ordered her French toast and she told me to give it a 5 star and recommend it. My baby got the fruits and I tasted all the fruit that’s in it. They picked the very good ones. My husband food was great too. The hostess was very welcoming. He is a handsome guy but I didn’t see his name. Anyways all the crew was very nice, knowledgeable and hospitable. I have a baby and a 8 year old so they made sure we have the right seat for both of my kids. Food was served hot and presentable. I have been to restaurants all over Texas but this is the Only place that has this kind of crew. I loved my 1st time here. We will definitely come back.

    We had a great meal with a couple of first time visitors- the wagyu tacos and scallop nigiri were awesome! Our server, Victoria, was super knowledgeable about the menu as well. (Be prepared to spend a bit if you’re hungry, but it’s well worth the asking prices.)
