Rengaya has been serving YAKINIKU in North Sydney since 1993, making it one of Australia’s pioneering Japanese barbeque restaurants. Now, that tradition is set to continue at its new digs on Miller Street – just a short stroll from the original location – in a much more modern, striking setting. The new fit-out features bar-counter seats around an open kitchen, red booth seating divided by Japanese-style timber panelling and a hard-to-miss chandelier. Masuya Restaurant is located in a building, which has been designated as a cultural asset, on O’Connell Street in Sydney. We moved away from Sydney, so we were keen to try one of our favourite restaurants on this holiday. It did not disappoint and is still the high quality food, excellent service and fantastic location! Sashimi tacos, as always, were the standout dish!

Christmas Day 1200 lunch reservation. Me, my wife and our dog. We sat outside on a beautiful Sydney day. Food and drinks were excellent, the staff efficient and friendly. A most enjoyable lunch.

I recently dined at KUON SUSHI SEI and was blown away by the quality+service. Ingredients were incredibly fresh, but the real stars were the sushi rice and soy sauce. The rice, sourced directly from Japan, had a wonderful texture and subtle sweetness that perfectly balanced the fish. Their house-made soy sauce was the perfect umami bomb, enhancing each bite without being too salty. Combined with the impeccable service, KUON SUSHI SEI offers a truly exceptional Japanese dining experience.
