In the Royal Lancaster Hotel, the Nipa Thai restaurant has been named after the original Nipa Restaurant in the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok. Lots of teak panelling, traditional Thai furnishings and artefacts lend an authentic air. All the staff dressed in traditional Thai costume are from Thailand - even the lady chefs. This authentic Thai restaurant is one of the first 15 recipients of the 'Thai Select' award - this award has been described as being the first ever Michelin-style award for Thai restaurants proven to be performing to the highest standards of quality and cuisine, and is awarded by the Thai Government. We think this award sums up Nipa Thai rather nicely. What's cooking? Kai Haw Bai Toey - deep fried marinated chicken in pandanus leaves, Kaeng Kiew Warn Kai - chicken in green curry soup, also recommended the Nipa platter - a selection of the chef's special Thai starters.

Chef Sebby Holmes launched Farang back in 2016 after trading at street food markets throughout London. A year later he took up temporary residency in Farang's current home in Highbury & Islington. After excellent reviews, he took on the space permanently after his step-father retired and since, has gone from strength to strength. Farang was recently inducted into the National Restaurant Awards top 100 and awarded a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand, which we have kept four years running. Lovely local restaurant with fantastic food and wonderful staff. I go with friends occasionally but this time with elderly parents and it was every bit as good. Light and bright, good atmosphere but not noisy!

really great restaurant with great service and delicious Thai food. We had the tasting menu and we had so much food, all beautifully served and delicious. We all had a great time in this buzzing restaurant, would highly recommend.

Booth seating offers privacy and elbow room. Skylight conservatory back half is light and bright. Free deep fried egg rolls with lunch bowls and drink ( including wine or beer) set lunch was good value. However, I specified no spring onions and got some.
