In the Royal Lancaster Hotel, the Nipa Thai restaurant has been named after the original Nipa Restaurant in the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok. Lots of teak panelling, traditional Thai furnishings and artefacts lend an authentic air. All the staff dressed in traditional Thai costume are from Thailand - even the lady chefs. This authentic Thai restaurant is one of the first 15 recipients of the 'Thai Select' award - this award has been described as being the first ever Michelin-style award for Thai restaurants proven to be performing to the highest standards of quality and cuisine, and is awarded by the Thai Government. We think this award sums up Nipa Thai rather nicely. What's cooking? The food was beyond exceptional. We were a party of 8 and we all left beautifully satisfied. One member of the party had ample choices on a separate gluten free menu. Another was vegetarian and had a huge range of options. The flavours were incredible. The menu is expansive so have a look beforehand! Next time I come back, I will need to try some other things (but still get at least one portion of dim sum!). The only negative regarding ambiance was that is was really really hot inside - the heating might have been up too high. 100% will return.

We had a beautiful meal here on Christmas Eve with our family, the food was absolutely delicious, the staff warm and friendly, food came quickly and it was really good value for the incredible food we ate. I think the signature Sticky Mango pudding is the best pudding I have ever eaten.! Overall it was outstanding!

Wondered whether Phakoon would be as good as the long-standing Thai restaurant that preceded it (Amaranth) but it may actually be better! Excellent food and lovely attentive staff. Good to see it was busy on the night we went - deservedly so.

Four of us had an absolutely wonderful lunch . It was a birthday celebration. The service was excellent. The food was good. I will definitely return and recommend this restaurant
