Emporio, a rustic Roman-style trattoria, managed by the same team responsible for the successful Aurora Brooklyn and Aurora Soho restaurants, has become another one of their dining destinations known for excellent food delivered in a relaxed and authentic setting.
Literally an Emporio, the restaurant will sell a superior selection of quality Italian provisions offering Italian and local cheeses, artisanal and house cured charcuterie, raw bar, fritti, wood-fired pizzas, homemade pastas and traditional Roman entrees. The menu concept is far ranging and flexible, allowing clients to design a meal suitable for their palette and their price point. In addition to traditional dining service, other options include a glass of wine with antipasti, a family style meal at a communal table or a pizza and prosecco break. Emporio, which means “local grocery store” in Italian, is offering authentic Roman cuisine with an international flair.

    Food was great but manager with the white hair ruined the experience. Our food took a normal slow paced time to come out and we spent $300 and over tipped on our dinner (there were only 3 of us) white haired slim male manager kicked us out immediately after we paid as we were finishing the last few sips of our drinks. It’s not rocket science - when you work in hospitality if you “have patrons breathing down your neck” as you say when we’ve been there for only 2 hours and had 3 courses + rounds of drinks (mind you the bald male server took 20 minutes to greet us in the first place) then you should probably offer a drink at the bar or a discount when you’re kicking people out. Never again

    Have been to Emporio many times, always with great results. Tonight, things seemed to be a bit off. We barely got our appetizers, and our entrées came out. Food was very tasty, but my friend’s steak was not cooked to his requested temperature. The wait staff was a bit confused and brought out several wrong dishes and then was not sure who ordered what dish. And finally, my dessert, the Affogato, did not arrive until the rest of the table finished their desserts.

    Went for an early dinner while I was in the area wedding dress shopping and it was fantastic! The service was amazing and the food and cocktails were so so good. Highly recommend! The margherita pizza with mushrooms was fantastic and so was the honey ricotta spread and the cacio e Pepe.

    A Nightmare Experience – Avoid at All Costs! I chose Emporio Restaurant for dinner on May 12, 2025, expecting a pleasant evening with my friend visiting from Europe. Instead, it turned into an absolute disaster. During our meal, my friend’s Ted Baker coat was stolen—right inside the restaurant. When we informed the manager, we were met with nothing but rudeness and complete indifference. Not only did they fail to offer an apology, but they also made no effort to address the situation. The very least they could have done was to cover our bill or arrange for a taxi, given that my friend had to return to her hotel on a freezing New York night without her coat. To make matters worse, when we asked for the contact information of the general manager, the manager outright refused to provide it. Instead, they nonchalantly admitted that coats are stolen at this restaurant all the time and made it clear they take no responsibility whatsoever. The fact that this is a known issue and they still do nothing about it is absolutely unacceptable. The lack of professionalism and basic human decency from the management was appalling. No accountability, no empathy, and certainly no attempt to rectify the situation. This establishment does not deserve anyone’s business. If you value your belongings—and basic respect—do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere.

    We understand losing a personal item is frustrating, but our coat rack is clearly marked as unattended, and we are not responsible for lost or stolen items. A similar jacket was left behind, suggesting another guest took yours by mistake. The police advised waiting to see if it was returned. However, we cannot condone the accusations, insults, and racist remarks directed at our manager. Our team deserves respect, and we will not tolerate discrimination of any kind. We hope your jacket is returned soon and encourage all guests to double-check their belongings. If you’d like to discuss this respectfully, we’re open to conversation.
